Industrial Rope Access

Corporate Cleaning Services is proud to introduce a unique alternative to suspended scaffolds and traditional rope descent– “Industrial Rope Access.” Commonly used in applications such as bridge/wind energy maintenance or cleaning and maintenance of the Grand Canyon Skywalk, Industrial Rope Access offers numerous safety and efficiency advantages previously unavailable in our industry. As we continue to strive for the highest safety and service standards, we are excited to offer this new alternative. Industrial Rope Access, or “IRA,” is a means of descent and ascent exempt from the OSHA 1910.27 height restriction.
This system differs from traditional rope descent in a number of ways. While traditional “rope descent” and “IRA” share some similarities, there are some significant differences that prompted the SPRAT organization (Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians) to participate in OSHA’s final ruling resulting in an exemption from the height restriction.

The key differences are as follows:

  • Standardized Training and Certification by an Independent SPRAT evaluator. Written, physical and skill evaluation.
  • Front Mounted Fall arrest system/Class III Harness: Significantly decreases “Fall Factor,” technician is capable of self-rescue. Traditional fall arrest systems incorporate a dorsal attachment of lanyard, technician is helpless in the event of a fall.
  • Ability to ascend. Capable of ascending with descender and descend with ascender.
  • Training required to rescue self and team members. Rescue Training exercises every 90 days.
  • Standardized-SPRAT approved industrial grade equipment.

To meet the growing demand for this service, Corporate Cleaning Services has invested in a select group of employees to provide training, equipment and certification. Corporate Cleaning Services currently has 47 SPRAT Level I, II and III certified technicians, including our Safety Director, Jeff Spino. We will continue to grow this division as needed to meet the needs of our clients.
